We are seeking 1 expert member to serve on the pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review Expert Review Committee (pERC). pERC makes drug funding recommendations to participating provincial and territorial ministries of health, provincial cancer agencies, and federal drug programs, which can be used by these jurisdictions to guide their cancer drug funding decisions. It provides guidance that considers the outputs and impact of our work in meeting the needs of federal, provincial, and territorial governments, and those working in the health care systems in Canada.

If you have significant experience in the health care systems in Canada, are interested in helping support health care decision-makers in making informed choices about health technologies, and are passionate about ensuring that the health care systems in Canada are the best they can be, we encourage you to submit a nomination.

We seek to maintain expert and advisory committees composed of talented and dedicated individuals with diverse perspectives, skills, and backgrounds, and recognize that experience may be gained through a combination of activities, including — but not limited to — employment, volunteering, community engagement, and advocacy work.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Expert members of pERC shall demonstrate the following qualifications:

a professional degree from a recognized institution in at least 1 of the following disciplines: medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology, or health economics
be in active practice and/or research in either the community, hospital, and/or academic setting
an understanding of the use and delivery of oncology drugs within the context of Canada.

We are particularly interested in hearing from medical oncologists and other clinicians with expertise in the treatment and management of pediatric cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, and head and neck cancer.

Time Commitment

Nominees should be aware there is a time commitment of up to 4 to 5 days per month. This includes preparing for and participating in pERC meetings, which are held 12 times per year (on a once-monthly basis), either virtually or in person in Toronto. Up to 4 meetings per year are held in person.

Term of Appointment

pERC members are appointed for a term of 3 years. Terms may be renewed once at the discretion of the President and CEO.

Remuneration

Members are eligible to receive remuneration in accordance with the organization’s Remuneration of Board and Committee Members policy. Remuneration will be paid to the individual and is subject to deductions for the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and income taxes. Members will receive a T4 each year for tax purposes.

Any reasonable travel costs for pERC or other organizational activities will be reimbursed in accordance with the organization’s Travel Policy.

Individuals from federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions; relevant bodies that represent health and allied health professionals; and members of the general public may submit a nomination.

Nomination Process
