We are seeking 1 health care practitioner member and 1 patient member to serve on our Health Technology Expert Review Panel (HTERP). HTERP is an advisory body that develops guidance and recommendations for our projects related to health technologies, including medical devices, diagnostic tests, and clinical interventions. It provides guidance that considers the outputs and impact of our work in meeting the needs of federal, provincial, and territorial governments, and those working in the health care systems in Canada.
If you have significant experience working in the health care systems in Canada, are interested in helping support health care decision-makers in making informed choices about health technologies, and are passionate about ensuring that the health care systems in Canada are the best they can be, we encourage you to apply. We seek to maintain expert and advisory committees composed of talented and dedicated individuals with diverse perspectives, skills, and backgrounds, and recognize that experience may be gained through a combination of activities, including but not limited to employment, volunteering, community engagement, and advocacy work.

Qualifications and Eligibility
The HTERP health care practitioner brings the perspective and knowledge of health care systems in Canada and has experience or advanced training in health services research, epidemiology, critical appraisal, evidence-based medicine, or health technology assessment.
The HTERP patient member represents the views and values of patients and caregivers in Canada and has some experience or demonstrated interest in issues related to health care at the community, regional, or national level, and ideally has some experience working with committees. The patient member is a full member of the panel with the same responsibilities and expectations, and subject to the same terms and conditions, as all other members.

Time Commitment
Each year, HTERP meets regularly, in person or virtually, as determined by the need for guidance or recommendations. This typically amounts to at least 6 scheduled meetings per year and up to 1 meeting per month (including 1 or 2 in-person meetings, which will take place in Ottawa). Approximately 1 half-day per month is expected to be spent on preparation in advance of meetings.
Members are eligible to receive an honorarium in accordance with the organization’s remuneration policy. For more information, refer to the HTERP Member Role Description document. Expenses are reimbursed in accordance with the organization’s policy.
Term of Appointment
HTERP members are appointed for a term of 3 years. Terms may be renewed once at the discretion of the President and CEO.
Who Can Submit a Nomination?
Individuals from federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions, and relevant bodies that represent health and allied health professionals, and members of the general public, may submit a nomination. Nominations may be submitted on a candidate’s behalf, or interested candidates may nominate themselves.

The following materials must be submitted in support of HTERP nominations:
- a completed nomination form (complete online)
- a completed Statement of Interest and Qualifications (Health Care Practitioner or Patient Member)
- the nominee’s curriculum vitae (documents may be provided in either Microsoft Word [.doc/.docx] or Adobe Acrobat [.pdf] format).
