New Members Join the CADTH Board of Directors

CADTH is pleased to announce the election of 3 new members to the CADTH Board of Directors.

“On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to welcome Louise Taylor Green, Dr. Jeffrey Tyberg, and Robert Shaffer as directors," said David Agnew, Board Chair. "Each of these remarkable individuals brings unique expertise, experience, and perspective to the board and we are delighted that they’ve joined us."

Mr. Agnew also thanked the following Board members who concluded their terms of office: Mark Wyatt (Western Representative), Dr. Charmaine Roye (Health Systems Member), and Cathy McIntyre (Public Member).

The 13-member CADTH board of directors is composed of an independent chair; a regional distribution of jurisdictional federal, provincial, and territorial representatives; and non-jurisdictional representatives from health systems, academia, and the public.

The Board has overall responsibility for administering the affairs of the Corporation and providing the strategic direction to guide CADTH as Canada’s trusted drug and health technology agency.

New Board Members

Louise Taylor Green (Public Member)

Louise is a government appointee on the Toronto Metropolitan University Board, a board advisor to Blu Ivy Group, a director of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Ontario (CMC), and a past chair of the Board of the Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association. She is an agile, purpose-driven executive who has led complex operational and cultural transformations that produced durable results in heavily regulated industries.

She holds an MBA, is a certified management consultant (CMC), is a regulated human resources professional (CHRL, CHRE), and a professional certified coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation. Louise completed the Rotman Directors Education Program, earning her ICD.D, a designation that represents a lifelong commitment to excellence in the boardroom as a director.

Dr. Jeffrey Tyberg (Health Systems Member)

Dr. Tyberg is chief of staff, chair of the medical advisory committee, and vice-president of academic and medical affairs at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. His portfolio includes pharmacy, medical education, and research. Dr. Tyberg’s prior roles include director of professional services for the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay, emergency physician and trauma team leader at St. Michael’s Hospital, toxicology consultant for the Ontario Poison Information Centre, department chief of emergency medicine at Michael Garron Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and chief of staff at Georgian Bay General Hospital.  

He has a medical degree from McGill University and trained in emergency medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in clinical pharmacology and toxicology at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Tyberg also has a Master of Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Robert Shaffer (Western Representative)

Robert Shaffer is the Assistant Deputy Minister for the insurance division at the Department of Health in Manitoba. Leadership, accountability, governance, operational and strategic performance, and the provision of health care have been a strong focus of his career.

He has a diverse background in health, including laboratory management, operational and strategic management, and health system planning. His portfolio at the department of health in Manitoba includes insured benefits, noninsured benefits, and departments services.
