Canada’s Drug Agency Opens Call for Scientific Contractors

Canada’s Drug Agency is seeking to expand the group of scientists who contribute their expertise to our organization and help us power evidence-informed health technology decisions.

Within our organization, there is a need for timely access to skills that can supplement our existing capacity and bring specific expertise to our reports. Through our open call for scientific contractors, we are developing a roster of individuals who can work with us across the health technology and methodological landscape. We have contract opportunities for individuals with experience in health technology assessment, health economics, drug evaluation, data analysis, applied research, and many other areas.

This call for scientific contractors provides information about the available roles, required qualifications, and submission process.

Background

Through a Request for Standing Offer (RFSO), Canada’s Drug Agency is working to establish a roster of qualified experts with a broad range of skills to provide scientific services. These individuals may be called upon to support our scientific needs and collaborate with our internal project teams on a variety of deliverables. The individuals we are seeking may work in roles such as methodologist, clinical reviewer, pharmaceutical reviewer, and health economist. Examples of the skills and knowledge we are looking for are described in the RFSO and include:

Methodologists Experience with methods and standards for evidence appraisal and synthesis, knowledge of clinical interventional trial and observational and real-world study design and methodologies, and so forth
Clinical reviewers Expertise in conducting systematic reviews or rapid evidence reviews, including meta-analyses, health technology assessments, and/or environmental scans
Pharmaceutical reviewers Experience conducting and interpreting systematic reviews, critical appraisal of evidence, and/or knowledge of the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology
Health economists Expertise in conducting economic evaluations of health technologies, including experience building new cost-utility analyses and experience interpreting indirect comparisons and incorporating data inputs into economic evaluations

About the Standing Offer

A standing offer is not a contract. The standing offer process is a way of creating a qualified list of scientific contractors who will provide services on an as-requested basis at a prearranged reimbursement rate, under specific terms and conditions, and for a specified period.
