Medical imaging is an integral part of health care, playing a critical role in early detection, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment planning. However, system issues including wait times, workforce challenges, technology integration, and standardization of practice and protocols mean patients and providers across Canada can face challenges accessing these services. Addressing these issues is key to delivering timely, accessible, and high-quality imaging services for everyone.
Canada’s Drug Agency (CDA-AMC) is convening a time limited multi-perspective pan-Canadian Medical Imaging Task Force with the following key purposes:
- Share expertise, best practices, and real-world experiences, and to collaborate on common challenges.
- Identify and prioritize current and emerging issues, trends, and opportunities in medical imaging across Canada.
- Shape and advance priority evidence areas in medical imaging by identifying high-impact areas where evidence and analysis are most needed. These priorities will inform and guide CDA-AMC's internal process for selecting and prioritizing topics for further work.
- Advise CDA-AMC on data and analysis needs to support effective use of medical imaging in sustainable health systems.
- Support improvements to national data tools like the Canadian Medical Imaging Inventory national survey by recommending enhancements to content and reporting.
