Health care decision-makers and health care professionals need efficient access to the best evidence. Health technology assessment agencies and guideline developers need access to evidence from economic evaluations to identify the cost-effectiveness of a technology and to inform economic models.

This report identifies a group of search filters developed and tested using a gold standard set of economic evaluations and statistical analysis. The relative performance of existing economic evaluation search filters is also examined. The report presents filters that can be applied to searches for economic evaluations in MEDLINE and EMBASE databases that can maximize sensitivity and achieve levels of precision to meet the needs of health technology assessment researchers.
