CADTH is pleased to announce that Dr. Fiona Clement has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the Maurice McGregor Award, an award that recognizes rising stars in the field of health technology assessment (HTA) early in their careers.
Dr. Clement is a skilled and passionate leader who has helped the Health Technology Assessment and Appraisal Unit at the University of Calgary become known for high-quality, scientifically rigorous, innovative research.
She has also been instrumental in building the capacity to understand and use HTA by developing training programs for Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services staff and mentoring the next generation of health economists.
"Dr. Clement is generous with her time in supporting others and providing mentorship," said Dr. Jon Meddings, Dean of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. "I have no doubt that she will emerge as a leader in HTA, both nationally and internationally, as her career grows."
Dr. Clement is the Director of the Health Technology Assessment and Appraisal Unit and Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary. She is currently spending a year in the US as a Commonwealth Fund Harkness/Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, conducting research at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center.
